Michael ended up being a part of the STN-J team after he attempted to hack into one of their mainframes. STN-J thought that he was a witch trying to infiltrate their files, so a Factory team was dispatched to get him. When they found out he was nothing more than a regular script kiddie human boy with mad hacking skills, he was brought before Zaizen. Zaizen gave him a choice, to work for him as their computer expert, or die. Obviously, Michael chose to live. Now, he works for Zaizen and STN-J, confined to the STN-J office and forbidden to leave the room. As a symbol of his imprisonment, he wears a chain around his neck with dogtags dangling from it -- constant reminders of the choice he made.

Michael's main role on the team is to profile and help with tracking down the witches from the office. Occassionally, he is able to use his l337 h4x0r 5kill5 to break into more secure areas of STN's database to get information. He is also the mastermind behind the STN Mainframe's security protocols, which is why he gets rather upset with a witch during one of the episodes who attempted to break into their witches' database.

Michael also is the first of the STN-J people to really form a bond with the fledging hunter, Robin, probably because they can relate to one another due to the closeness of their respective ages.
