Upon first glance, Doujima appears to be your everyday, run of the mill anime ditz. Through most of the series, Doujima can be seen lounging about the STN-J offices, not really making much of an effort to do any actual work. She often waltzes into the office late, and half asleep. Kosaka-kaichou (Chief Kosaka) often berates her for her actions, but she doesn't seem to have a care in the world and blatantly ignores him, much to his chagrin.

Doujima reveals in the series that she is "special" and won't have anything happen to her, like losing her job. It's implied that her parents probably pulled some strings to help her land her job in STN-J, so they probably have some significant amount of power in Solomon/STN-J.

After Solomon makes their attack on STN-J in Episode 15, Doujima can be seen actually participating in hunts and making herself useful, probably due to Robin and Amon's temporary disapparence from the organization.

It is revealed towards the end of the series that Doujima is a spy sent by Solomon to investigate STN-J's "humane" method of hunting witches, using the mysterious substance Orbo. She is key in the last episode, where Solomon finally attacks Factory.
